Hushasaur
Privacy Policy
1. Your journal stays with you
Hushasaur stores journal entries, moods, favorites, drafts, and preferences on your device. It does not create an account, run an app-operated cloud service, send journal content to an AI service, or include advertising, analytics, tracking, or third-party crash-reporting software. The app does not make network requests to transmit your journal.
Muse is an illustrated companion. Writing prompts and companion notes are included with the app; they are not generated by uploading your writing. Prompt suggestions use the dates and prompt labels of recent local entries to avoid repeating questions, without analyzing their body text. Companion notes are selected only from the mood you choose and a local rotation position.
Saved-prompt identifiers, the current day’s chosen prompt and the next note position for each mood are stored as preferences on the device. Search text in the prompt library is not saved as a search history. These preferences are not included in journal export files.
2. Local storage and device backups
Journal files are stored in the app’s private storage using iOS complete file protection. The app keeps a local recovery copy to help recover from a damaged save. The protection of these files also depends on your device’s security settings and passcode.
Depending on your Apple device-backup settings, iOS may include the app’s data in device backups. Those backups are managed by you and Apple; Hushasaur does not operate or receive them. The app does not provide its own cloud synchronization service.
3. Journal Lock
If you choose to enable Journal Lock, Hushasaur asks the operating system to authenticate you with Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode. Hushasaur receives only the authentication result. It does not receive or store your face data, fingerprints, or passcode.
Journal Lock restricts opening the app. Backup passwords are separate: you choose one when exporting a protected backup. Journal Lock does not protect readable JSON exports or shared text.
4. Optional reminders
The app asks for notification permission only when you turn on a reminder. Your chosen daily reminder is scheduled locally on your device. Notifications use general reminder text and do not include your journal entries or moods. You can turn reminders off in the app or change notification permission in the device’s Settings.
5. Export and import
You may export a backup containing entries and the saved draft. Exports use password protection by default. The app encrypts protected backups on your device using Apple’s cryptographic APIs. You supply the password for export or restore; Hushasaur does not save it or provide password recovery. Keep the password somewhere safe outside the app.
You can turn password protection off to export readable JSON, or share your journal as plain text. Anyone able to open those unprotected files can read their contents. You choose the destination through the system’s file or sharing interface. The destination app or storage provider’s handling of that copy is governed by its own terms and settings.
The app stores a local record of the last completed backup export: its date, entry count, whether it contains a draft, whether it has password protection, and a content fingerprint used to detect later changes. This record contains no journal text, backup password, or destination path. It does not prove that the exported file still exists or is accessible. Exports are manual and are not updated when you write more.
Import reads only the backup file you choose. Protected files require their password before review. A preview describes the entries and draft handling before you confirm the import. Existing saved entries are preserved when backups are merged; conflicting entries are kept separately, and identical entries are not intentionally duplicated. If both journals have different unfinished drafts, your current draft stays and the other remains in its backup file.
6. Deletion
You can delete individual entries or use the app’s erase-all control to remove entries, drafts, saved prompt choices, note-rotation positions, local recovery copies, and the completed-export record. Exported files and device backups are separate copies; removing data in Hushasaur does not remove those copies. Manage or delete them using the relevant storage location or backup settings.
