Goodlings
Privacy Policy
1. Overview
Goodlings is a personal record of kindnesses and memories, made by Caisson HQ LLC. This policy describes the Goodlings app currently in development. You do not need a Goodlings account.
2. Information you keep
Goodlings stores the kindnesses you write, their dates and optional tags, photos you choose, and the people you add. People can have a name, relationship category and chosen color. Important days can include dates, titles, gift ideas and reminder choices.
Your optional name, appearance, reminder settings and other app preferences are stored on your device. Goodlings does not read your address book.
3. Your devices and iCloud
Goodlings keeps a local copy of your records. In builds that include iCloud sync, Sync with iCloud is on by default and uses Apple’s private CloudKit database to sync records and photos between your devices signed in to the same iCloud account, when that service is available. Goodlings does not send your private entries to a server operated by Caisson.
You can change Sync with iCloud in Settings. The change takes effect the next time you open the app. Turning sync off keeps the local records and does not delete an existing iCloud copy. Settings shows the app’s current sync status.
4. Photos
You choose photos through Apple’s system photo picker. Goodlings receives the images you select rather than browsing your whole photo library. It resizes and stores those images with the kindness, and they can be included in private iCloud sync when sync is active.
5. Reminders and widgets
Reminders are local notifications that require notification permission. Depending on the reminders you enable, a notification can include a person’s name or information about an important day. You can change reminder choices in Goodlings and notification permissions in your device settings.
Goodlings writes an on-device snapshot for its widgets. It includes people’s names, some kindness text and dates, and upcoming important days. Kindness text, names and dates may appear on your Home Screen or Lock Screen when you add these widgets. Choose widgets and notification visibility with that in mind.
6. Sharing and exports
Sharing a card, yearly recap, text file, JSON file or PDF book opens the system share sheet. You choose the destination. Text and JSON exports can include kindness text, names, dates and other recorded details; JSON includes photo counts rather than the image files. PDF books can include photos.
Goodlings prepares these files and images on your device. Copies you send or save are handled by the receiving app, service or person. Removing an entry in Goodlings does not remove those copies. Sharing is not automatic publication to a Goodlings website or a shared account.
7. Goodlings+ and Apple
Goodlings uses Apple’s StoreKit for Goodlings+ product information, purchases and restores. Purchase availability depends on the build and Apple’s services. The app reads verified transaction and subscription information to determine which features are available. Apple handles payment details; Goodlings does not receive your payment-card number.
Your private kindness entries and photos are not included in these purchase requests. Apple services, including iCloud and purchases, are handled under Apple’s applicable terms, privacy information and your Apple account settings.
8. Advertising and analytics
The current app includes no advertising, tracking, analytics SDK or third-party crash-reporting service. Its writing prompts are built into the app; your entries are not sent to an AI service to generate them. Apple may process system diagnostics according to your device settings.
9. Deleting information
You can delete individual kindnesses and their attached photos. Deleting a person through Goodlings also deletes that person’s kindnesses, attached photos and important days. You can delete important days individually. Archiving a person keeps their information; it is not deletion.
When private iCloud sync is active and connected, changes are handled through that sync. If sync is off, deleting local information does not request deletion from a separate existing iCloud copy. Turning sync off or uninstalling the app is not a request to erase your iCloud data. Device backups, exported files and copies shared elsewhere must be managed separately.
